Dr. Seitz has nine years of experience working on Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADASs) in the Advanced Mobility group for Transportation Research Center Inc. The majority of this work is developing and conducting test plans, on which Dr. Seitz is responsible for research design and planning, data collection and statistical analysis, test execution, prototyping, and modeling and simulation, for both connected and automated vehicles. Dr. Seitz has also developed custom applications to validate testing and assisted customers in developing and validating their own applications for several projects. Dr. Seitz has led several large data collection activities, deploying CAVs on public roads. Recently he has worked on smart connected infrastructure to improve work zone safety. Recently, Dr. Seitz has been using his technological background to develop new technologies to improve roadway safety, such as smart barrels that are able to map the work zone and detect incursions.
