The presentation will cover details about research projects undertaken by Transportation Research Center, Inc. These projects focused on worker safety inside the work zone. The first project investigated the automation of a Truck Mounted Attenuator with respect to needs of workers. Different systems, which were good candidates for deployments across various states were investigated. The second project is smart barrel project, which is able to provide up-to-date mapping of a work zone to provide advanced notifications to motorists and detect intrusions into the work zone.
