Nichole Miller has over twenty years of experience as an educator. She earned an undergraduate degree in Music Education and spent ten years as a band director and music teacher for grades K-12. While teaching full-time, she pursued a Master’s degree in School Counseling. In 2010, she began her first school counseling position at an online charter school, where she contributed to the development of a comprehensive school counseling program in a virtual environment. During this time, she utilized multiple learning management and student information systems while working for an Information Technology Center (ITC). In 2015-16, she returned to public schools. Her responsibilities include supporting the social and emotional needs, academic progress, and career planning of approximately 400 students in grades 9-12. She manages the College Credit Plus program in partnership with three universities, assists with college admissions and recommendations, monitors graduation progress, provides career advising, and enrolls students in the career center. She collaborates with teachers and staff to promote student success and supervises the community mental health counselor who supports her students. Nichole coordinates services, facilitates teamwork, and makes referrals to ensure students receive comprehensive support.

As President of the Ohio School Counselor Association (OSCA) in 2019, Nichole Miller established collaborative relationships with several Ohio Department of Education (ODE) offices, resulting in regular joint meetings. Under her leadership, OSCA partnered with two House representatives to introduce HB 367, which defines the role of school counselors and ensures representation at ODE. She has served on the Behavioral Health and Wellness Advisory Group and currently serves on the Whole Child Committee. Recently, she was invited to join the Governor’s Ohio School Safety Working Group. Nichole has provided testimony multiple times at the statehouse in support of legislation benefiting the whole child. She intends to continue her advocacy efforts as OSCA Past President and anticipates new opportunities in this capacity. Additionally, she serves as the Zone 2 Region 11 School Safety Liaison at the Ohio School Safety Center, Ohio Department of Public Safety, and is certified as an NTER Master Trainer and CSTAG trainer.
