Dr. Lisa Sims possesses over 20 years of experience in counseling, education, and student advocacy. She currently serves as the Freshman Academy School Counselor at Buchtel Community Learning Center, where she supports ninth-grade students in their transition to high school and fosters a culture of care, achievement, and inclusion.

In addition to her school-based responsibilities, Dr. Sims serves as a Psychology Fellow with Kindred Spirit Behavioral Group, where she provides therapeutic and assessment services while pursuing licensure as a psychologist. Her combined experience in clinical and educational settings enables her to integrate mental health support with student development. Sims has also held positions in higher education at Clemson University, Kent State University, and the Minority Behavioral Health Group, where she focused on outreach and mental health initiatives that promote student well-being.
