School counselors are increasingly tasked with coordinating and managing 504 plans—responsibilities that often extend beyond the profession's intended scope. While this role can create tension with comprehensive school counseling models, it also presents an opportunity for meaningful impact. This session explores how counselors can leverage their involvement in 504 case management to move beyond compliance and toward stronger student outcomes. Participants will learn practical strategies to embed student voice, build executive functioning and self-advocacy skills, and use everyday interactions to support postsecondary readiness. Grounded in a strengths-based, equity-focused framework, this session also highlights how counselors can use data from their 504 responsibilities to advocate for role clarity, systemic change, and more effective service delivery.
