Pete Finnerty (he/him/his) is a licensed professional clinical counselor and supervisor (LPCC-S), advocate, consultant, educator, and founder/clinical director of Grow Well Cleveland LLC. He also serves as Assistant Professor of Counseling at Cleveland State University. As an out queer clinician, educator, and advocate, Pete is committed to serving the entire LGBTQIA+ community and all individuals who experience oppression or marginalization. He holds a B.A. in Psychology and a Master’s in Counseling with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from California State University-Fresno, as well as a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kent State University. Pete’s clinical experience spans college counseling centers, community agencies, crisis centers, private practice, and inpatient behavioral health settings. These roles have shaped his holistic, systemic approach and informed his integration of nutritional, physical activity, and advocacy techniques, drawing on his background as an educator and fitness trainer. Pete utilizes activity and yoga therapy, including walk-and-talk sessions, as well as EMDR, DBT, feminist narrative, and ACT in individual, dyad, and group settings. His practice is grounded in affirmative, feminist, existential, and community wellness principles. At Grow Well Cleveland, Pete also provides counseling to athletes, couples, families, and a diverse range of clients.
