F6 – School Re-entry & Re-integration after Suicide Hospitalization: Promoting Mental Health and Safety
More than 60,000 students are hospitalized for suicidal behaviors each year. Most return to school after a brief hospitalization to the same stressors and triggers. If their return is handled poorly, they are at increased risk and may contribute to contagion. School-based Mental Health Counselors who assist with re-entry & reintegration will learn a published framework grounded in research and best practice. Participants will learn how to (a) protect student safety; (b) limit contagion; (c) support families; (d) assist teachers; and (e) help the student stay engaged in learning.
