Jamie Castro has been a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney for 14 years. Jamie has spent the majority of her career as a felony trial DDA during which time she has handled a large caseload primarily consisting of violent assaults, murders, and attempted murders. Jamie is currently assigned to the DUI training and prosecution section (DTAPS), where her focus is on handling complex vehicular homicide cases and providing training and assistance to DDA’s and law enforcement officers on DUI and vehicular homicide-related issues. While assigned to DTAPS, Jamie has attended multiple DUI and Vehicular Homicide centric courses, including Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) School, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) School. She also keeps herself up to date on all the latest advances in the field by attending relevant conferences and training seminars. Most recently, in 2024, Jamie successfully tried The People v. Rebecca Grossman case in which the defendant was convicted of murdering two young boys, Mark and Jacob Iskander. This was a high-profile case that garnered widespread media attention. Jamie received the 2024 ALADS Award for Exemplary Performance and the 2024 ADDA Special Operations Prosecutor of the Year Award for the prosecution of the Rebecca Grossman case.
