Jamie Castro has been a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney for over 13 years. Jamie has spent the majority of her career as a felony trial DDA during which time she has handled a large caseload primarily consisting of violent assaults, murders and attempt murders. Jamie is currently assigned to the DUI training and prosecution section (DTAPS) where her focus is on handling complex vehicular homicide cases and providing training and assistance to DDA’s and law enforcement officers on DUI and vehicular homicide related issues. While assigned to DTAPS, Jamie has attended multiple DUI and Vehicular Homicide centric courses including Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) School, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) School. Additionally, early on in her career, Jamie was assigned to the trial team for the People v. Lonnie Franklin, Jr., a serial murderer, also known as The Grim Sleeper. She was assigned to the Major Crimes Division for the duration of trial preparation, trial and penalty phase. This trial spanned 118 days and involved approximately 250 witnesses.
