Garrett Dameron has been a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney for 26 years. As a trial deputy, Garrett has tried nearly 100 jury trials to verdict, including complex murders and capital cases. He spent six years in the Crimes Against Peace Officer Section (CAPOS) where he prosecuted defendants for murders of peace officers. Prior to CAPOS, Garrett prosecuted gang members for murders in the Hardcore Gang Unit where he was assigned for seven years. Among his high-profile cases, Garrett obtained convictions and death verdicts against serial killers and cop killers. Garrett is currently the Deputy-in-Charge of the DUI Training and Prosecution Section (DTAPS) which is a unit that prosecutes the most high-profile and legally and factually complex vehicular murders in Los Angeles. The attorneys in DTAPS also specialize in training DDA’s and law enforcement throughout Los Angeles County and the State of California on the unique challenges in prosecuting vehicular homicides and DUIs.
