Port Clinton City Schools
Gary Steyer, Principal of PCHS, has 33 years of experience in education, including 22 years as an administrator and 15 years at the high school level. He currently serves as President of OASSA. Mr. Steyer and the high school staff have implemented various scheduling models, including eight-period, seven-period, and nine-period days, as well as homeroom and four-block days. By collaborating with staff and consulting with districts across the state, they developed a creative schedule that supports academic intervention and mental wellness while addressing challenges specific to the high school environment. Since adopting this schedule in 2022, both academic and social-emotional learning (SEL) data have shown continued positive results. Mr. Steyer has presented this scheduling model at conferences and to other districts. He has extensive experience working with master schedules over the past 15 years.
