Working to support student success in the midst of the post-pandemic reality of stress, anxiety, and other challenges can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, there is a clear pathway to empowering students to achieve success using the science of Hope. Hope is a better predictor of post-secondary success than ACT or SAT scores, or GPA. Hope buffers mental health issues and is a protective factor against the impacts of trauma. It also supports overall wellness for adults and students. Belonging has been described as a ‘school superpower’ – if students feel safe at school and feel that they have positive relationships with adults and peers, then they’ll be successful in school. Hope and belonging are interrelated. When belonging increases, hope increases. Participants will leave with a plan for creating hope and belonging for their students built upon their existing programming.
