H9 – Creating S.P.A.C.E.: Group Counseling Lessons from Black Girls to Support Student Growth and Change
As schools and students navigate rapid social, emotional, and developmental change, counselors need responsive new approaches. Drawing on a study of Black girls’ experiences in independent schools, this session introduces the S.P.A.C.E. framework — a healing-centered group counseling model that affirms identity, fosters resilience, and builds belonging. Participants will gain practical strategies for creating inclusive, student-centered spaces that support growth, leadership, and wellbeing across diverse school contexts.
