This presentation will discuss the essential role of the school counselor in creating a safe school environment. Culture and climate are as equally important as locked doors and other physical safety measures. This presentation will delve into the special skills the school counselor brings in regards to safety. Topics will include behavioral threat assessment and management (BTAM), suicide and violence prevention, promoting a positive school climate and other resources available through the OSSC and your regional contacts.
