The proliferation and diversification of novel psychoactive substances (NPS) continue to pose challenges to forensic scientists. This presentation will review the reference standard manufacturing process as well as provide resources, tips, tricks and strategies to identify newly emerging designer drugs across several structural classes. We will discuss relevant synthetic routes as they relate to structural feasibility and utilize EI-MS fragmentation patterns to elucidate the latest casework examples.
