E2 – Beyond Performative: Practicing Real Social Justice in Counseling
This presentation will examine how performative social justice shows up in counseling and counselor education, and its impact on diverse clients. Grounded in the MSJCC (Ratts et al., 2016), participants will explore how to move from symbolic allyship to authentic advocacy through culturally responsive practice, self-reflection, and intentional action. Attendees will leave with practical strategies to align their values, voice, and clinical work to better serve marginalized populations and promote meaningful change.
