F8 – Thinking Differently: Neurodiversity-Informed Adaptations for Counseling Practice
Many therapeutic tools assume clients visualize, access emotion, or think in words with ease–assumptions that often fail neurodivergent clients. Let’s explore the diversity of human thought patterns: inner monologue, visual thinking, and abstract cognition. We will examine the ways that neurodivergent individuals experience cognition and process information differently. Attendees will gain practical strategies for adapting common theories and interventions to accommodate ranges in visualization, interoception, and thought patterns, building a more flexible and neurodivergent-informed practice.
