D8 – Supporting Student Wellness Through Connection With Nature
Wellness as defined by the counseling field encompasses not only physical health but also psychological, emotional, and social well-being (Myers et al., 2000). Within this multifaceted concept, ecowellness, or the connection between individuals and their natural environment, has emerged as a critical component (Reese & Myers, 2012). University students are a population susceptible to challenges in maintaining wellness due to their developmental stage and outside stressors. As such, supporting them through interventions which allow for connection to nature may foster well-being.
