G8 – Living with OCD: A Family Therapy Framework for Supporting Loved Ones
OCD reshapes the entire family system. Families often develop accommodation, reassurance, and avoidance patterns that maintain the disorder and erode relationships. Family accommodation predicts poor outcomes yet clinicians rarely receive training in working with family systems. Drawing on experience as a family and individual counselors in a residential OCD setting, this session equips counselors with psychoeducation, Narrative Therapy externalizing techniques, Nonengagement Responses, and distress tolerance skills.
