In an era of 'innumerable challenges,' counselors often face the intersection of professional ethics and clients' spiritual values. This session shares findings from an original phenomenological study on how clients experience the transition from lay pastoral care to professional counseling. We explore tangible ways to honor a client’s history while grounding them in clinical practice. Attendees gain practical skills to fortify professional identity and invigorate work with clients from high-demand religious backgrounds.
