D10 – Uplifting LGBTQIA+ Clients: Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to Promote Professional Advocacy

Participants are invited to utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a lens through which to live out our core professional values of promoting social justice across varying levels of advocacy. Participants will identify ways in which the psychological flexibility offered through this model may foster autonomy within minoritized populations. By using the ACT Hexaflex to explore micro, meso, and macro systems, participants will learn both conceptual foundations and practical strategies to support and advocate for LGBTQIA+ clients in and outside of the counseling office.
