I5 – Explore How Client Tears Reflect Therapeutic Needs, Attachment Styles, and Personality Dynamics
Between 15% and 30% of counseling sessions involve client tears (Katz et al., 2024). Tears invites clients to therapeutic growth. However, many counselors rely on intuition rather than structured intervention when clients cry. This session synthesizes recent evidence about emotional crying, explores different crying types, and how different crying patterns related to personality traits and attachment styes. Counselors will learn practical, structured interventions to transform client tears into emotional healing and relational growth.
