G7 – They Not Like Us: A Gaze into Black Men’s Grief

There is little known about men’s grief and the impact it has on Black men. The intersection of mental health, gender, and race continues to be an area where more research is needed. Generally, men are socialized to believe in stoicism, enduring pain, and disregarding the expression of emotion. This presentation will explore the complexities of grief among Black men by Black male practitioners. We will open a dialogue about the historical accounts, contributing factors, and cultural healing practices to aid participants in learning how to enhance their clinical frame (Moore et al, 2022).
