A3 – Cultic Trauma: Supporting Clients Who Have Been Members of Cults

Cultic abuse involves harmful actions toward individuals in cults or high-control groups, often including manipulation and exploitation. Survivors face challenges like loss of safety, barriers to wellness, increased dissociation and disempowerment, and broken trust in God, society, others, and themselves. This presentation offers counselors trauma-informed interventions tailored to cult abuse survivors, promoting healing and recovery. Participants will gain insights into supporting clients with cultic trauma and how their meaning-making informs effective counseling.
