Name
S8 — Supporting Students’ Re-Entry and Reintegration after Crises: Promoting Mental Health and Safety
Description

More than 5000 students have a suicide attempt every day, and more than two million required an ER visit due to suicidal crises last year alone. Many require follow-up treatment that keeps them out of school. Upon return, they are at increased risk for further attempts. This session provides concrete and specific strategies for managing re-entry. Participants will learn how to develop and implement a plan that (a) protects student safety; (b) limits contagion; (c) supports the family; (d) ensures teachers and staff understand their role; and (e) helps the student stay engaged in learning.
