Join us as we discuss the intersection of laws, codes of ethics, and best practices with clients in mental health settings. During the workshop, messy case studies will be presented to generate discussions and practically apply relevant laws and codes of ethics to determine best practices to address “gray” cases. Issues of confidentiality, records, and subpoenas will be addressed and special considerations in working with families, couples, minors, and vulnerable adults will be presented. In all cases, both legal and ethical guidelines will be discussed while applying an ethical decision-making model to process and document decisions.
