This interactive session will bring insight to culturally responsive techniques used in everyday counseling when working with African American children. Counselors who are culturally aware of the child's background, environment and perception of their mental health are able to establish more successful outcomes. These practices provided will enable counselors to understand and help connect their student/client with reinforcements and the tools that are comfortable for those that they are working with to grow and become productive citizens.
