Suicide was the second leading cause of death among children and adolescents aged 10–14. Despite a decline in the national suicide rate, the suicide rate among Ohio youth has increased. In fact, from January to February 2021, youth suicide deaths increased 29% (Ohio Department of Health, 2021). During this session, participants will learn how their own past experiences, beliefs and biases directly impact their conceptualization and assessment of suicide risk. Additionally, they will learn about resources that can be utilized to assist in the assessment of suicide risk in the state of Ohio.
