Description

Though hundreds of years removed from slavery, Jim Crow, and other historic racial traumas, social and political forces continue to impact Black communities. This presentation focuses on the mental health disparities of Black families through the lens of school and clinical counselors. The presenters will bring awareness to mental health disparities and social determinants of health to address inequities. As well as reduce the stigma around counseling Black families. Various strategies will be shared, including trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive approaches.
