This presentation will explore the Sanctuary Model and one of its core aspects, the SELF compass, as a useful framework for guiding counseling interventions when working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and other difficult life circumstances. Creative experiential examples will be presented that draw from the presenter’s experience integrating the Sanctuary approach in clinical work with children and adolescents in a wide variety of treatment settings, including inpatient, outpatient behavioral health, and private practice contexts.
