Recent increases in transphobic and homophobic legislation throughout the United States have many people worried about their safety. No group may be more impacted by such concerns than students who are now, or may soon be, subjected to the withholding of medically necessary healthcare and compassionate support. This session will discuss the impacts of such systemic levels of discrimination on LGBTQ+ youth, and best practices in supporting LGBTQ+ youth, and will heavily emphasize the development of a toolbox of actionable skills for clinicians to use in various counseling settings.
