This presentation will highlight the unique challenges of clinical work and the cultural considerations necessary in building therapeutic alliance between clinicians and clients. Clinicians will learn ways to foster their cross-cultural counseling skills through cultural empowerment. To discuss what are some “culturally competent” elements of the counseling process that can contribute to psychological re-colonization. Clinicians will improve knowledge and skills as they develop an antiracist toolkit within their clinical approach (Batheje et al, 2022; Bemak & Chung, 2017).
