Dr. Giegerich conducted research on supervisor attachment styles and their impact on the supervision alliance in the context of working with supervisees treating clients with substance use disorders. Additionally, the Dr. Giegerich has provided supervision to counseling students during their practicum and internship experiences, and presented on the topic of supervision at state and national conferences. She is a licensed independent chemical dependency counselor and has worked in substance use disorder treatment for six years across varying settings. Currently, Dr. Giegerich provides individual and group counseling to court-mandated clients in the treatment of substance use disorders and develops addictions counseling curriculum in a counseling program as an assistant professor.
